Given the global nature of today's workforce, I imagine, content strategists in India would require the same skills - (feel free to refer back to the core skills video) - as content strategists anywhere else. It's a formalized discipline now. Of course, every team will have different requirements from its content strategists. Many times, larger organizations have the resources and requirement to hire both backed and front-end content creators, so you might not need very thorough knowledge of Information Architecture, but it's always good to be acquainted with it.
